Grateful thought of the day:

I feel so thankful that I can pay my bills AND eat well.

I have been making a more proactive attempt to start eating foods that nourish me completely.  I never eat terribly; I don’t eat any fast food and I’m a pretty moderate person for the most part.  But sometimes when I’m feeling low, I find it hard to work up the motivation to prepare really healthy food for myself.  This just makes me feel worse, and then I have even less motivation, and it is a vicious cycle.  This week, I simply forced myself.  I went to the market and bought lots of fresh veggies & fruits, and Good-For-Me food.  And in just a short time, I’ve already begun to feel a bit brighter.

Bright foods to lighten my moods, my body, and my brain:

Dinner from Sunday Night:

Livin’ the good [read: healthy] life…

Spring Fever

Springtime in Santa Cruz is:

Miss Chuck constantly squeaking at birds from the window…

Birds of Paradise in the front of my house…

Calla lilies in the back of my house…

Blue nail polish…

…and dresses that are really nighties in disguise.

Deeper in, and deeper still…

This is a song off of Portugal. the Man’s new album American Ghetto.  If you haven’t heard of this band… well, I can’t really compare them to anyone.  They’re one of the most unique bands that are currently making music.  I’ve seen them perform live, and like their music, they’re full of charisma.

This song… is such a mix of feelings for me.  There’s something ethereal… a little mystical in a few pieces of it.  Then, there’s also this rock and roll sexiness about it.  And then the chorus… if you can keep yourself from moving to its catchy rhythm, then you’re probably dead.  I’ve been letting its eery loveliness wash over me all day long, and to be honest, it’s one of the few things that have sparkled for me today.

One Ring

Fanatic: marked by excessive enthusiasm and often intense uncritical devotion.

I have been known to be a loyal fan, sometimes to a fault.  If I love something, I tend to love it unconditionally and wholeheartedly.

My love for Lord of the Rings has been renewed suddenly and with great passion.  I happened to catch the second movie on tv, which spurred me to want to watch all of the movies, and re-read the books.  Yes, I love Tolkien and I loved the visual interpretation of the books in the movies.  Without criticism, I love it all.
